A Modern Emergency Department

The Effingham Health System Emergency Department is a newly remodeled, modern facility that provides the best possible care in a calm, comforting environment. The facility’s state-of-the-art resources include private rooms and telemedicine capabilities that link the ER team to specialist partners who provide life-saving expertise in emergencies.

Every Minute Counts for Stroke and Heart Attack

As a Critical Access, Level IV Trauma Center, the goal of Effingham Health System is to stabilize patients and mitigate the risk of further damage through triage and immediate treatment. In the case of a heart attack, our emergency physicians can stabilize the patient and administer life-saving drugs before transferring him or her to a catheterization lab. For stroke patients, we have direct access to neurologists through state-of-the-art Telemedicine equipment and our partnership in the St. Joseph’s/Candler Regional Stroke NET-work.

Effingham Health System has a transfer agreement to ensure a patient can be transferred to a higher level of care due to the status of the patient, noted by the provider. Transfer options for critically ill patients include medical helicopter transport.
