Aging Young: Heart Health Lunch and Learn 2026

Your best “anti-aging” tool isn’t a supplement… it’s muscle.

Effingham Health System’s Heart Health Lunch & Learn centered on this year’s theme: Age Young: the best ways to preserve lean muscle, which strongly supports longevity and heart health.

Over 100 community members attended and learned practical prevention strategies, with an emphasis on heart-healthy nutrition and regular exercise, as well as how those habits help you maintain strength as you age. During Q&A, attendees asked great questions about GLP-1 medications (safety and effectiveness), how much protein supports lean muscle, and more.

The event was hosted by Scott Russell, Executive Director of the EHS Foundation, and featured: Antoine Poythress (EHS COO & CFO), Jenny Childs, NP (Cardiac Nurse Practitioner), and Dr. Kendall Griffith, MD, FACP, FACC, FSCAI (Board-Certified Interventional Cardiologist).
