Springfield, Ga. (Nov. 14, 2025) — Effingham Care and Rehabilitation Center has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Nursing Homes for 2025, ranking #2 among nursing homes (100–149 beds) in the State of Georgia. The Newsweek distinction is one of four major national honors awarded to Effingham Care and Rehabilitation Center this year.
Newsweek’s annual ranking helps families identify trusted, high-quality nursing homes for their loved ones. Its rigorous analysis evaluates more than 14,800 nursing homes nationwide based on four key pillars: performance data (52%), reputation (33%), accreditation (10%), and resident satisfaction (5%).
“The precision of care required in a skilled nursing facility often goes unrecognized outside of our healthcare system. The national attention Effingham Care and Rehabilitation Center has received this year is validating for our entire team,” said Dr. Fran Witt, President and CEO of Effingham Health System. “This recognition reflects professional consistency, adherence to best practices, and a level of compassion beyond compare.”
Earlier this year, Effingham Care and Rehabilitation Center earned a Five-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)—a distinction shared publicly through the Medicare.gov Nursing Home Compare tool.
The facility also received the Silver Achievement in Quality Award, the second of three levels in the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living’s National Quality Award Program, recognizing organizations that demonstrate measurable progress and excellence in quality outcomes.

Adding to these institutional achievements, Dr. Fran Witt was inducted into the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Hall of Honor in 2025. The recognition celebrates her exceptional leadership and career accomplishments in nursing home and healthcare operations and administration. McKnight’s Long-Term Care News is a leading business news outlet serving professionals in the long-term care field, particularly those in skilled nursing settings.
Effingham Care and Rehabilitation Center is a 105-bed skilled nursing facility located adjacent to Effingham Health System on the hospital campus in Springfield, Georgia.
