Incredible Show of Support at the 3rd Annual Soul to Sole Breast Cancer Awareness Walk & 5k

Even constant rain could not dampen the pink-infused enthusiasm at the third annual Soul to Sole 5K and walk in Guyton this past weekend, sponsored by the Effingham Health System Foundation. Most of the 460 registered participants from across the region showed up and had a great time raising funds and supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The 2025 Soul to Sole event hit its stride, setting records in participants and fundraising, including a 30% increase in participants, a 50% increase in sponsorships, and a 130% increase in revenue.

The funds raised will support the EHS Foundation’s “Strive for $5 Million” Capital Campaign. The expansion of the Effingham Cancer Care Center, currently operating at full capacity, is a major priority for the Foundation’s campaign.

Effingham Cancer Care Center is a partnership between Effingham Health System and Summit Cancer Care, providing patients the opportunity to visit their oncologists and oncology practitioners, learn about support and financing during their journey, and receive chemotherapy treatments—close to home. This proximity of care is particularly important for cancer patients who need to reserve their energy for healing.

Effingham Health System held a Breast Cancer Awareness fair inside, where local support groups joined EHS staff to share resources for those bravely battling breast cancer, and for all women to learn about the importance of self-exams and mammograms.
